i think a lot of times they are, or become, 'children's books' because there are some vital but simple themes that many younger people run into in life, or don't run into in life, and these books can be about life lessons that we either did learn or would benefit from learning. I recently read Jody Lynn Nye's book about Dreamland (lemme look: Waking In dreamland, which begins with the main character, a male in his 20s, flying on a mission for the rulers of Dreamland, which is indeed generated by sleepers. I found it inventive, at times maybe a little simple, but also sometimes quite witty with references to common dream themes and ideas. I started the sequel, something about School Of Light, but it got too bogged down for my taste in "high school age people can be so mean"--sure, it's true, but I wanted more of the "let's learn about creating with light and air" as opposed to petty rivalries that I'm seeing too much of in waking life myself!
